A 17 seconds video obtained by www.calitown.com show two prison warders killed on Friday when gunmen attacked a vehicle of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) conveying some inmates to court in Anambra state.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the attack took place at about 11am in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA of Anambra.

An eyewitness was quoted as saying that the officials and inmates in the vehicle scampered for safety during the attack.

Francis Ekechukwu, public relations officer of NCS in Anambra, confirmed the incident.

He was quoted as saying that the service had launched an investigation into the attack.

Similarly, Ikenga Tochukwu, Anambra police spokesperson, said officers had “swiftly responded” to arrest the gunmen.

“It is very unfortunate, but police operatives swiftly responded and chased the hoodlums away. Investigation is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of this act,” Tochukwu said.

NAN was unable to confirm if the gunmen succeeded in releasing any of the inmates in the bus.
