“More Abductions Will Take Place On Ikom/Calabar Highway Unless…” – Security Operative

One of affected drivers recanting his story.

While public outcry is trailing the confirmed abduction of nine commuters, yesterday evening between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm, on the Ikom/Calabar highway by persons suspected to be herdsmen, a security operative who has elected to remain anonymous because of the sensitive nature of this unfortunate criminal activity, has overnight informed www.calitown.com that more abductions of this nature will hit the state if something is not immediately done.

“This criminal activity took place between the Uyanga and Okomita axis of the highway. If you have recently driven through that stretch of this highway, you will discover that it is the worst part of this highway, running from Calabar to Bekwarra LGA, north of the state. Infact, because of how bad the road is, drivers have to crawl while manouvering past gullies that can effortlessly damage a vehicle. So if you are driving at snake speed, it is very easy for any band of thieves to attack a vehicle and even abduct passengers like what we have just seen. Shouldn’t we be worried that government has been unable to fix this critical road?”, he volunteered.

He went on to say that, “…agreed that the Cross River State Police Commissioner, Sule Balarabe, has confirmed this abduction and has deployed a tactical team to the area, the police cannot say they do not know that between Adim and the Ibiae Palm Estate in Biase, robberies take place there on a daily basis like a drug prescription. Our inaction or let me call it lethargic disposition to these serial robberies, have emboldened a monster who looks set to prey on all of us, God forbid. I am afraid this experience may not be a one off thing, unless we show greater commitment to doing a few things correctly and relentlessly.”

More details shortly.
