Axe Drops For 100 Civil Servants In CRS … To Face Sanctions!

Posted on October 10, 2023 By Admin No Comments on Axe Drops For 100 Civil Servants In CRS … To Face Sanctions!
L-R: CR HoS, Eteng, in one of the MDAs during the visit.

One hundred civil servants in the Cross River State Civil Service, it has been disclosed, will face sanctions from the Office of the Head of Service for lateness to work, dereliction of duty and related offences, after the HoS, Innocent Eteng, paid an unscheduled visit to some Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, in Calabar, CRS.

Eteng who made this disclosure to journalists in Calabar, expressed displeasure that most of these civil servants were absent from work when he visited seven MDAs between 8:30am and 9:00am this past Monday.

“I’m going to discourage this trend and ensure that there are sanctions for erring staff. It is going to be a routine; monitoring is part of my duty. I want to ensure that MDAs are visited regularly to ensure that staff come to work early”, he stated.

He further expressed displeasure over what he described as laxity on the part of civil servants and subsequently ordered Heads of Administration of the CRS Ministry of Health, Lands and Survey, State Planning Commission, Internal Revenue Services, among others that he visited, to query civil servants who were not found at their duty posts and thereafter submit their responses to his office within a 24 hour period.

“When I came on board, I observed that there is so much truancy and laxity on the part of civil servants. Of course, some go to work late; some even leave work before 4pm. It is my effort to re-organise and put the Service back on track to ensure that there is high productivity and efficiency in the Service”, he said.
