Bassey Otu, Cross River State governor has suspended the Chairman of the CRS Civil Service Commission, Uko Inaku.
While no reason was given for the suspension in a statement signed by Secretary to state government, Anthony Owan-Enoh, sources inside Government House, Calabar, say Inaku’s suspension is not unrelated to the content of a very expository and explosive interview given by a former Auditor General of CRS, John Odey, on local radio station, HIT 95.9 FM, Calabar, where where he raised red flags about some underhand dealings responsible for the persistent rise in the state’s wage bill. A consummate retired civil servant, Maurice Effiwatt, was appointed in his place with immediate effect.
Similarly, the governor has also appointed the CRS Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nsa-Abasi Gill as his new Chief Press Secretary. Emmanuel Ogbeche, CPS in the last eight months was removed and appointed Special Adviser, Media and moved to Abuja.
Otu has now appointed Comrade Nsa-Abasi Gill, Chairman of NUJ in Cross River State, as his new Chief Press Secretary.
Former Deputy Chief Press Secretary to former governor Ben Ayade, Linus Obogo, was also appointed Special Adviser Media & Publicity.
The appointment of Edwin Okon as Chairman, CRS Internal Revenue Service, was ratified, after he had operated in acting capacity, just like Abang Sylvester Otu was appointed State Chief of Protocol. All the appointments are with effect.
