The Cross River State Police Command has apprehended a suspected notorious kidnapping gang leader known as “Tallest,” whose other names are yet unknown.

This arrest was executed by a team of policemen from the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad, ACKS, on 5th June 2024.

“Tallest” was apprehended following the release of one Emmanuel Otu, a resident of Nyangassan by the 2nd Transformer in Calabar Municipality, who was kidnapped on May 25, 2024 and released on May 29, 2024.

Acting on credible information, law enforcement officers trailed and arrested “Tallest” within the CUDA environs. He is currently in police custody, and investigation has commenced to determine his level of involvement in various heinous crimes. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices as the investigation progresses.

In a related development, on the same date at approximately 9:20 a.m, the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad, ACKS,q responded to a distress call reporting that a group of hoodlums had abducted a young man from his home and taken him to the creek in the Nyangassan axis. The police team swiftly mobilized to the crime scene. Upon sighting the police, the hoodlums fled into the creek, abandoning their victim, Kingsley Eyo Andem, an 18-year-old male, who was found with multiple injuries inflicted by his abductors.

Investigation revealed that Kingsley Eyo Andem was attacked based on allegations of dating the girlfriend of the gang’s leader, identified as ‘Olismam,’ the mastermind behind this brutal act. The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend the gang members and ensure they face justice in accordance with the extant laws of the land.

Finally, the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP G.A. Grimah, extends his felicitations to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir. The CP assures Cross Riverians and the general public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He encouraged all citizens to remain law-abiding, prayerful, and exhibit a spirit of patriotism for peaceful coexistence.
