
Betta Edu, suspended minister of humanitarian affairs, may have been dropped as minister of the Federal Republic after Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s President, appointed Nentawe Yilwatda as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, following the reshufflement of his cabinet and the scrapping of some ministries announced after the day’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
Tinubu also scrapped the Ministry of Sports Development, moving former minister, John Owan Enoh, to the Ministry of Trade and Investment as Minister of State.
The president also sacked Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
Promptly, Tinubu announced the appointment of new ministers. Labour and Employment has Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as the new minister. Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu is the new Minister of State, Foreign Affairs while Jumoke Oduwole was assigned the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Yusuf Abdullahi Ata is the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, while Idi Mukhtar Maiha was appointed as the Minister of Livestock Development. Suwaiba Said Ahmad is to serve as the Minister of State, Education and Shehu Dikko was appointed Chairman, National Sports Commission, which takes over the duties of the Ministry of Sports Development.
