Magistrates In C’River Seal Up Courts, Embark On Indefinite Strike

Posted on December 8, 2024 By Admin No Comments on Magistrates In C’River Seal Up Courts, Embark On Indefinite Strike

Magistrates in Cross River State have sealed up all magistrate courts in the state sequel to the commencement of a strike action commencing tomorrow, Monday, December 9, 2024, as directed by the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, MAN.

Godwin Onah, Chairman of the association in the state, and Solomon Abuo, Secretary, announced that the magistrates are embarking on an indefinite strike in a notice issued this Sunday.

All magistrates across the state, according to the notice, must ensure strict compliance with the order.

“All magistrates must adhere strictly to this Bulletin No. 2 by abstaining from performing all official duties including court sittings as from Monday 9 December 2024 till further notice.”

The order is sequel to an earlier communique issued on 5th November, 2024, after a general meeting where eight demands were made to the Government of Cross River State.

Again, a letter written to the governor of Cross River State, dated November 11, 2024, wherein the Notice of Strike was extended to Friday 22 November, 2024 to enable the state government to attend to their demands.

Late Sunday evening, www.calitown.com was unable to obtain the state government’s position on this strike, at press time.
