
Ofem Arikpo was born in January 1968 to the family of Late Ikpi & Regina Arikpo of Egbizum-Ikpakapit, Ugep, Yakurr LGA.
He attended several primary schools in Calabar before proceeding to the prestigious Hope Waddel Training Institution in 1979 for his secondary school. He gained admission to the University of Uyo where he obtained a B.Sc in Political Science/Public Admin and an M.Sc in International Relations.
In 1994 Arikpo was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano as a Cadet ASP and passed out from the Academy in 1996. He was posted to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to begin his police career.
He has served in several police stations in Abuja such as Wuse, Garki, Kubwa, Maitama, Abuja, manning different positions as OC P&G, DCO and DPO. He was the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of FCT Abuja at a certain time.
Arikpo has also been one of the few Officers in NPF history to have commanded four(4) Mopol Squadrons as Commanding Officer. The Squadrons are, 36PMF Kebbi, 56PMF Ogoni, 27PMF Katsina and 73PMF Magumeri, Borno State. He is also very versatile in investigation as he has served as a top head of investigating teams in both the FCID and the IGP Monitoring Units.
He has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police incharge of Administration and Finance in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa State Commands – from where he is promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police.
Ofem Arikpo, CP, has also attended several courses in the NPF that helped proper his career to this level. Additionally, he has attended Intermediate and Strategic Command Courses in Jos, Plateau State and FCT, Abuja. He attended a Security Science Course in Libya under the auspices of the Late Mourmar Gaddaffi.
A devoted Christian and a well known philanthropist whose passion is the care of widows and orphans, he is happily married to Jessica Mnena Arikpo and their union is blessed with three children.
