Jarigbe Fires First Shot: “Ayade & Legor Should Meet Me Back At Home”

As the build-up to next year’s general elections gather momentum, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the senator representing Cross River North, apparently irked by behind the scene political intrigues that are darkening the process, is insisting that front line challengers “Senator Ayade and Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbo should meet me back home. The conversations are becoming too long”.

On his verified Facebook page, Jarigbe is also insisting that, “I think we have had enough of the intellectual politics and infantile gossips. It is time to meet in Cross River North and let our people decide. Let us go for a referendum”.

In insisting that, “…the good thing is that all the aspirants for the Cross River North senate seat have served our people in various capacities and a referendum can be conducted on us”, the senator throws a clear challenge, leaving the electorate to make the political decision that will select who goes to the senate from Cross River North.

Ben Ayade, served as governor of Cross River State for eight uninterrupted years, after having a stint in the senate. His plans to return to the senate may been met with mixed feelings and a boisterous electorate firmly believing that he may have very little to offer after a tenure as governor that was not impressive.

Legor Idagbo, has served as Bekwarra council chairman, CRS Executive Council member and House of Reps member, representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency. Political observers insist he has enjoyed the support of the political establishment but has given back little in political service delivery.

Jarigbe’s political shine experienced her meteoric moment when he defeated Ayade, a sitting governor, in the race for senate. That Ayade seeks to return to the senate is a political rematch waiting to happen.
