
The Bendi Development Association, says Peter Akpanke, the member representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is a worthy son of Bendi, whose contributions have brought pride and development to the entire Bendi community.
Chairman of Bendi Development Association and Cross River State High Court judge, Emma Ubua, who made this declaration at a civic reception organised to honour Akpanke, further declared that his continuous outstanding service to humanity is making Bendi nation proud.
At the reading of the Reps member’s citation, Lucy Ushuple who read it, highlighted Akpanke’s long standing commitment to service. She noted that even before venturing into politics, he had dedicated himself to improving lives through his foundation, the TAF Foundation, empowering individuals and communities alike. She further emphasised that this spirit of service has remained consistent throughout his very eventful political career.
In his response, Akpanke expressed deep gratitude, acknowledging the hand of God in his life and appreciating the people of Bendi for such an award. He reaffirmed his commitment to continued service and development as he donated three million naira to Bendi Development Association.
The event was a grand reception ceremony organised by the Bendi Development Association to celebrate three of its distinguished sons: Peter Akpanke, Timothy Anake, a Professor and Atiang Beshel, an Associate Professor..
Notable attendees at the event include Mike Aniah, former Secretary to the CR State Government, Justice Emma Ubua, Professors Joseph Ushie, Dave Imbua, Tim Anake, Flora Abu, as well as indigenous academics, Ashipu Igbo, Aniashie Akpanke, as well as Sunny Undebe, among others.
