
The Cross River State Government has concluded plans to undertake two ground breaking and one unveiling ceremonies, next week.
An official invitation card, made public and signed by Orok Bassey Okon, Cross River State Head of Service, indicate that the groundbreaking ceremonies are for the “1000 units of the Peoples First Housing Scheme for Civil Servants” and “Cross River Civil Service Staff Club/ Events Centre for Public Servants”, while the unveiling is for the “Cross River State Service Manual and Civil Service Song”.
The three events will hold at 12:00 noon, 1:00pm and 2:00pm respectively on Thursday, April 30th, 2026. While the first groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to hold at Ikot Efiokon Etim village, Akpabuyo LGA, the second event will hold at the New Secretariat Complex, Murtala Muhammed highway, Calabar. The third and final event will hold at the Kashim Shettima Hall, State Library Complex, Calabar.
The 1,000 People’s First Housing Project in Cross River State is designed to provide affordable housing to low-income earners, specifically targeting civil servants and the “poorest of the poor”.
