Mono Rail Gulps CR’s N3.6bn

Posted on April 28, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Mono Rail Gulps CR’s N3.6bn

CRS logoIt has been revealed to www.calitown.com by government sources that the Cross River State Government is sinking N3.6 billion into setting up the mono rail system, running from the ongoing Calabar International Convention Centre, CICC, to the Tinapa Resort to help reduce the time it will take to commute between the two places.

“If you recall that the Donald Duke administration had it in mind to run the tracks from the Margaret Ekpo International Airport to Tinapa but did not achieve that for reasons that are not ill-intentioned. What this government has done is to take a more workable option and implement the mono rail vision in the CICC where it will still serve Tinapa”, one source said. It was further revealed that “the journey from the CICC to Tinapa is a 12 kilometre one and should take you about 15 minutes or so, but the mono rail will take about four minutes and in business terms, the mono rail is a better option. I know a few persons will want to shout at the figure, but when you see the entire components you will agree that it is money well spent. Let us just be patient and see what will be delivered in that project”.

There are however a few divergent views. One such view sees, according to one source, the sinking “of such a huge sum of money on such an elitist extravaganza as the problem with this country. Tinapa that they said will solve our problems, gave this state a financial hunchback. Is AMCON not in Tinapa now? Are they there because the place is doing well? The CICC is a Tinapa clone and it will leave this state in a deeper mess, we are watching”.
