Lawyer and Activist Pens Book On Nigeria’s Democracy

Posted on May 2, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Lawyer and Activist Pens Book On Nigeria’s Democracy

IMG_255054508241Front line activist, lawyer and APC chieftain, Okoi Obono-Obla, will on May 22, 2014, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja. launch a 197 paged book, “Power Struggles and Corruption: Deconsolidating Democracy In Nigeria” as his contribution to strengthening the existence or long-term security of existing democracies.

The book which also has Glory Okoi-Uyouyo as co-author, will be launched by former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, in a ceremony organisers of the event say will draw a large gathering and firmly place on record the experiences garnered by both authors along democratic lines. Worryingly, the authors are said to be unhappy that despite one and a half decades of civilian administration in the country, Nigeria has failed to successfully deliver on the dividends of democracy due to widespread corruption and a complete lack of competent and visionary leadership. In the book’s chronicle, issues and events of the early years of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic that threatened to scuttle the nation’s democracy, are expertly brought to the fore with a delivery that is both interesting and enlightening.

Published by the Calabar and Abuja based Bookman Publishers, “Power Struggles and Corruption: Deconsolidating Democracy In Nigeria”, has a foreword written by no less a person than former Petroleum Minister and Professor of Virology, Tamuno David-West.
