Peter Ojie Turns Back On Gov’ship Ambition, Opts For Senate

Peter Ojie, immediate past Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and governorship hopeful www.calitown.com can reliably inform, has abandoned his ambition to succeed Cross River’s Liyel Imoke as governor in 2015.

With serial number 000217, Ojie has instead sought for and secured a Provisional Clearance Certificate from the PDP, to run for Senate. He is therefore running for the Cross River Northern Senatorial seat, presently occupied by Ben Ayade, who also has his sights set on the governorship of CRS, eventhough his ambition looks likely to suffer a setback, considering the sweltering level of intrigues that have overtaken PDP’s political process in CRS.

Ojie’s move is considered a tactical one as his emergence seeks to free up space for the Obudu/Obanliku axis to lay a firm grip on the governorship position. Again, he is considered a firm favourite of embattled state governor, Liyel Imoke, and should effortlessly receive the support of the governor, looking to put his key men in strategic political positions.

His latest political move has however been described by an anonymous source as, “the desperate moves of a man trying to clutch on to political straws. One minute he wanted to be governor, he wakes up the next morning and goes for the senatorial screening, we hope he will not run for President before all of this nonsense is over”.

“He has a right to run for whatever position because he is a qualified Nigerian and those who think they want to ridicule Peter Ojie with their negative statements had better watch it”, a strong supporter of his reacted.

Its a pity. Goes to show that these people have nothing to offer but their greed for power and money as position goes for them. Im disappointed in imoke and hope whoever he pushes to become the next governor losses else crs will continue in this state of retrogression.
