Massive Defections Set To Hit CR PDP

Posted on December 19, 2014December 19, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Massive Defections Set To Hit CR PDP

Copy of NEW LOGO OF CRSWhile they appears to be a lull in political activities in the state, www.calitown.com sources say a political work-in-progress may see a good number of PDP faithfuls in CRS abandon the party and head to the Labour Party to actualise their political ambitions or even demonstrate their resentment for “the very imperfect political process that a few persons sat back and orchestrated within the PDP in CRS to the exclusion of popular aspirants”, as one source put it.

Bassey Otu, who presently represents CR Southern Senatorial district in the Senate, but was denied the same ticket by the establishment several days ago in the party’s primaries, tops a list of likely defectors to the Labour Party, as is Sandy Onoh, Julius Okputu, Dominic Oqua, Alex Egbona, Goddy Amanke, Egbe Jabengo, Bobby Ekpenyong and Stanley Afor, all interested in running elections against the PDP’s ‘anointed’ candidates.

Onoh looks set to wrestle John Owan Enoh for the Central Senatorial seat, just like Okputu will confront Rose Oko, widely reported to have gotten the PDP’s nod in absentia. Goddy Amanke, better known as “Timaya”, will definitely bank on his grassroot appeal and support to pile political pressure on Legor Idagbo as both have eyes for the Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. Egbe Jabengo and the PDP’s Mike Etaba will be on the cards for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency seat, Afor challenges Chris Agibe for the Ikom/Boki Federal seat while the Calabar/Odukpani seat may be a tricky one between Bobby Ekpenyong, up against Eta Mbora. The Yakurr/Abi Federal seat will be a battle royale between Egbona and Bassey Ewa, just like Jarigbe Agom and Akpang Obi Odu may go head to head for the Ogoja/Gala federal seat.

Perhaps too, www.calitown.com sources also revealed that sustained pressure is being mounted on Goddy Jedy Agba on two fronts. While his teeming supporters are convinced that he should change course, go to the Labour Party and still run for governor, “government and party sponsored elders have been piling pressure on Agba to abandon the governorship project and we cannot rule out the fact that these people have been given some money to talk Agba into standing down, it is the kind of politics that we play in CRS”, as another source said.
