Front line Cross River political mobilization group, the Legacy Group, says it will continue to invest time and energy in the proper sensitisation of Cross Riverians so that informed political decisions can be taken for the general good of all those in the state. Additionally, the group maintains that in the present era of political campaigns and gubernatorial elections, it has set itself the onerous task of massive grassroot mobilisation to help actualise the gubernatorial ambition of Ben Ayade.

In an exclusive interview with www.calitown.com recently, Board of Trustees member and co-founder of the group, Tony Undiandeye, informed that Legacy Group established itself when it became absolutely necessary to rev up political support for Liyel Imoke, “following the political inactivity that greeted the cancellation of the governorship election in 2002”. As a self funded political group, Undiandeye further maintains that, “our political awareness activities have helped chart a political course for CRS that so many people have positively embraced”.

Specifically, the Legacy Group BOT member intimated www.calitown.com that the group’s support for the candidature of Ayade “is borne out of the modest achievements he has made in the past, the same achievements that show that he means well for all of CRS. Remember too that this is an outstanding scholarly fellow, who is also extremely focused and has overwhelming international exposure, a deep character as well as a humane disposition … what else do we need as a state?”.

He further informed that “for an organization like ours with commanding structures in the 196 political wards in CRS, we know that expectations are high at this critical political transition period. Since we are with the people, we can only point them to leadership that will prosper us all and that leadership is that our very own Professor of Industrial Toxicology, Benedict Ayade will provide”.

The Group’s Director-General, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe is all but set to represent Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, activities at the Legacy Group office in State Housing Estate, Calabar are gradually approaching a fever pitch level as efforts on the group’s part to win votes for Ayade’s candidature, have been relentless.
