Clement Oshaka, the Bekwarra Local Government PDP caucus leader has commended voters in the area for turning out en masse to vote and give support to the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP House of Representatives candidate for the Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency, Legor Idagbo. Oshaka who spoke with www.calitown.com on the heels of last Saturday’s polls maintained that the initial apprehension after most card readers malfunctioned, was taken care of by a combination of patience on the part of the electorate and the tireless INEC officials, something “that must be applauded as our continuous democratic march continues”.

He further added that, “the imperfections of this process will be improved upon I believe, if we all continue to work at giving democracy in Nigeria a real chance. We cannot say that we have gotten there, of course the mistakes we make should be the lessons we carry into tomorrow, so that in the long run what we do here politically will become a reference point for several democracies in the world”.

For the gubernatorial polls around the corner, Oshaka wants “the support given to the PDP in Saturday’s elections replicated so that our very dear Benedict Ayade will be elected to bring his dynamic experience to bear on governance in CRS. We know where CRS has come from and we can only be sure of her future if we elect Ayade, a man whose commitment to making CRS great has been demonstrated repeatedly”. He again appealed to all those who may have lost at the polls to “please understand that there will be winners and losers in every election, but this is not the reason why we must take laws into our hands and enthrone violence, a vice completely at variance with our way of life in CRS”, he concluded.
