P R E S S U R E: EbonyLife TV Set To Pay CR N50m

Posted on July 18, 2015July 18, 2015 By Admin No Comments on P R E S S U R E: EbonyLife TV Set To Pay CR N50m

ebonyTop government sources have just informed www.calitown.com that media outfit, EbonyLife TV, is in the process of remitting N50m to the Cross River State government, next week, in a deal brokered with the Ministry of Finance to scale down the level of anger within certain quarters over the N2.4 billion handed the outfit in 2012 for the yet to be seen Calabar Media City.

Perhaps to further demonstrate the seriousness that this matter presently attracts, it is believed that a five-man committee has been set up in the Cross River State Ministry of Finance to push for the payment of the facility and what should accrue in revenue to the state. Again, associations like the ACROJ, the umbrella body for online journalists in the state, only last week, drew the attention of the CRS House of Assembly to this facility and implored her to do all within her powers to have the state’s financial benefits in the venture restored.

“Recall that when former governor, Liyel Imoke wrote to the House of Assembly in the dated 31st May, 2012, he was specific that this venture’s business revenue plan will by the third year of operation earn the state revenue to the tune of N3.8 billion and by the seventh year, the total income expected will be N33.3 billion. That we are yet to see”, one source said. There was also assurance by another source that, “most of those phony transactions fashioned for the benefit of mostly outsiders, will attract the attention of government and well-meaning individuals in this state, so if you people in www.calitown.com have friends who had their hands in the state’s pie without permission, tell them that times have changed.”
