The Speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly, John Gaul Lebo has assured HIT FM, Calabar’s first private radio station, of the willingness of the Cross River State House of Assembly to forge a strong synergy with the station in line with the Assembly’s believe that initiatives like HIT FM have the capacity to enhance the state’s democratic course.

Lebo gave the assurance when a delegation of the media outfit led by its Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Patrick Ugbe, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Calabar. He commended the creativity and ingenuity of the proprietor while charging the radio house to be independent minded in their reportage and assessment of government activities in the state, while also calling on them to liaise with the Chairman House Committee on Information and Communication, Nelson Ofem so as to help inform the constituents on the programmes and activities of the Assembly.

Earlier, Patrick Ugbe, CEO of HIT FM thanked the Speaker for his exemplary leadership in the Cross River State House of Assembly, adding that the purpose of the visit was to intimate the Speaker and members of the presence of the radio station as well as the programmes it has to offer.

He said that HIT FM was the first indigenous broadcast outfit in Cross River State with high quality radio content and signal, stressing that the outfit was poised to educate, inform and entertain the people with a mission to provide alternative voice to Cross Riverians. Ugbe, a former Commissioner of Information in the state also informed that the radio station operates 24 hours on the 95.9 frequency modulated band.

this initiative is commendable, i have been waiting for this for a very long time, i thought of it because we dont have any private tv station or radio station. i employ them to take broadcasting to the next level and bring the happenings, new and events closer to the people of the state and its neighbors.
