Cross River State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, RoseMary Archibong has tasked journalists in the state to bring their professional acumen to bear in partnering the Ministry to help give robust publicity to all state policies and programmes.

Archibong, who stated this when the Association of Cross River on-line Journalists (ACROJ) paid her a courtesy visit in Calabar, added that Media Practitioners play a pivotal role in the sustenance of good governance, and that the new media is an invaluable innovation that has impacted hugely on the socio- economic life of the people within its short time of emergence.

The Commissioner extolled the good work done by on-line journalists in the state, and assured that her Ministry will continue to encourage a cordial working relationship with the Association in the overall interest of the administration of Governor Ben Ayade, who she emphasized is in a hurry to expand the frontiers of development in the state within the shortest possible time.

She maintained that the ministry places high premium on the services of on-line Journalists and advised them to cross check facts from all relevant organs of government before going to press on any issue, stressing that any wrong information sent on-line is capable of causing colossal damage to the State and her people.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Cross River On-line Journalists (ACROJ) , Iwara Iwara, said the association was in the Commissioner’s office to congratulate her on her appointment, intimate her of their activities and seek greater co-operation in driving the news gathering and dissemination process in the state.

Iwara lauded Archibong for her pedigree, which he maintained will impact on her new assignment, and reminded her that her work will be made easier if she recognizes and works with ACROJ, which has huge capacity to influence public opinion in the State.
