As soon as Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade returns to the state, all political appointees in the state will be individually compelled to swear to an oath, denouncing membership of any secret cult or society, in a renewed fight to stamp out cultism in the state, Jude Ngaji, Cross River State Security Adviser has exclusively informed www.calitown.com.

The oath taking, Ngaji further disclosed, was in line with sections 194 and 196 (4) of the 1999 constitution, adding that the denunciation of cultism has become a prerequisite for holding public offices in the state. He came clear that security agencies in the state were working round the clock to ensure that the ugly cult-related events of the past two weeks, will not occur in the state again.

On whether government will pursue the prosecution of suspected cultists presently detained by the police, the SSA said government will do just that with the hope that the law courts will not speedily grant them bail and unleash them on the society. Ngaji also hopes that members of the public who have information for security agencies will make such information available so that security breaches can be nipped in the bud.
