
Confirmed sources within the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Cross River State, have confirmed the destruction of six hectares of cultivated cannabis in Uwet community, Akamkpa LGA, by the agency, as efforts are intensified to rid the state of drug cultivation and consumption.
We were further informed that the locate and destroy operation, was carried out in collaboration with soldiers of the 13 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Calabar, on the heels of accurate information shared with security operatives.
While one female was arrested, 119 kilogrammes of already processed cannabis, discovered on the family was immediately destroyed.
Recall that earlier this year the agency made public, a list of local government areas in Cross River State that produce the highest quantity of cannabis. Akamkpa LGA topped the list, followed by Odukpani, Ikom, Boki and Yakurr LGAs, in that order.
