Joe Agi’s Supporters Angle For Top Govt Positions

While Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, continues to engage the services of several friends and sympathizers in his legal ‘battle’ against Joe Agi at the Supreme Court, www.calitown.com can confirm that several persons in the Agi camp have begun positioning themselves for appointment into several political positions they think may be up for grabs, should the December 9, 2016, Supreme Court verdict be in Agi’s favour.

First, a top Calabar lawyer appears to be the firm favourite for Agi’s Chief of Staff, just like an unnamed controversial employee of the University of Calabar has his sights set on being the Government House accountant. While these duo appear as sure bets for these positions, several others, seem to be negotiating their ways to top positions that may be available. It was further revealed that a senior civil servant with strong ties to former governor Donald Duke, is in pole position for the Secretary to the State Government job, just like the next Finance Commissioner is expected to be from the Central Senatorial district with an intimidating background in financial management.

“Life itself is a gamble, while we await the Supreme Court verdict, we must be prepared for what the outcome may be. If we sit down and think that we will wait until Joe Agi wins before we start making plans, we will be making the same mistakes that have been Ayade’s middle name, the absence of preparation. We have begun positioning ourselves so that we will not be caught unawares…”, a pro-Agi source submitted. Pointed to the fact that the verdict can also swing Ayade’s way, the source hit back, “what of if it doesn’t?”. Again, it was discovered that should Agi become governor, “he would do away with this charade of appointments that Ayade has used to pauperise our people. Only essential appointments that reflect our collective need as a state, will be made”, as another source insists.

But pro-Ayade sources are insisting that the Cross River State governor will triumph at the apex court and “…put plenty to shame. You can see that those behind Agi are desperate self serving politicians who have started appointing themselves into political positions that are not vacant; their only intention is to come and plunder our lean resources. We must stand up to them”, one source told www.calitown.com. On the perceived non-performance of the Ben Ayade administration so far, the source maintains that, “those who maintain that Ayade is not performing have simply chosen to see it that way. In a little while, the same people will sing his praise to high heavens when the governor’s action plan bears visible fruits…patience should be our watchword”.

For now, the mood across the state remains calm and expectant as Cross Riverians await the make or mar December verdict of the apex court

Ayade was voted for four (4) years, he must complete his tenure. If truly equity is the mother of law, then Ayade’s age decorations has nothing to do with service. God is supreme in the Supreme Court of heaven and earth while the chief judge only heavenly language. You may say Ayade is not qualified, but God doesn’t call the qualified he qualifies those he call.
