In what can considerably be seen as a direct reaction to a news story carried by www.calitown.com, sources within government circles in Cross River State have revealed that a Ministry of Finance team, led by the Director of Administration in the Ministry, Ben Ollum, stormed a mechanic workshop in Esuk Utan, behind Zone Six Police Station, late Thursday afternoon, to retrieve a Nissan truck, taken away in controversial circumstances by persons believed to be fronts for faceless persons in government.

Issues are thought to have arisen after it was discovered that a Nissan truck assigned to the MOFINEWS department of the Ministry, was stealthily removed from the premises of the Ministry of Finance under the guise that the vehicle was an unservicable one. Sources in the Ministry informed www.calitown.com that prior to the removal of the vehicle, close to N200, 000 (two hundred thousand naira) was recently spent on the repair of the vehicle.

When the Director of Administration led a team of security personnel to retrieve the vehicle, it was discovered that the MOFINEWS inscription on the vehicle was hurriedly wiped off the vehicle’s body. It irked Ministry of Finance offficials and security personnel, who immediately arranged a towing van to tow the vehicle to the Diamond Hill Police headquarters, Calabar.

However, a mild drama ensued in Esuk Utan, when one Haruna, the buyer of the vehicle, intercepted the vehicle, brandishing papers that sought to validate his ownership of the vehicle. He insisted that one Peter Eworo, personal assistant to Rev. Fr. Eworo, facilitated the vehicle acquisition process. While he owned up to being in the know, Ollum the D.A in.the Finance Ministry faulted him. While there was an insistence to tow the vehicle Diamond Hill, Haruna is said to have absconded. The vehicle was finally parked at the Ministry of Finance.
