Labour In CRS Divided Over Strike Action

Posted on July 2, 2017July 2, 2017 By Admin No Comments on Labour In CRS Divided Over Strike Action

While the John Ushie-led Cross River State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress is calling for an all-inclusive strike action in the state, after one that has obstructed the workings of government in the state, it appears that cracks within labour look set to pull the plug off the latest directive billed to commence on Wednesday this week.

Shortly before press time today, www.calitown.com was informed that the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, CRS chapter, has pulled out of the strike action, promptly directing her members to resume work tomorrow, Monday, July 3, 2017; a directive to that effect is believed to have been issued by Asanya Asuquo Ebong, state chairman of JUSUN. Part of the statement credited to Ebong says, “… it (JUSUN) has withdrawn from the strike action forthwith as she is not a member of the Joint Negotiating Council but affiliate of NLC” (sic).

We are however yet to fully ascertain if the  state chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has actually broken ranks with the NLC in the state on this strike as informed officials within NULGE say they hope to provide credible information on the matter soon.
