
As the remains of the former veteran school administrator, Otu Iwara Abam, were laid to rest in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, last weekend, there was an outpouring of grief and recall of sweet memories with former Cross River State governor Clement Ebri describing the deceased, whom he knew while as a student in Community Secondary School Ugep where the deceased served for many years as Bursar, as a meticulous and disciplined man.
He recalled with nostalgia, memories of his days in Community Secondary School as a student in the 70s when he interacted with the late Abam whom he said discharged his duties with great detail and deep sense of propriety. He added further that men with the deceased character, at work and within the community were now in very short supply.
On his part, Alex Egbona, former Chief of Staff to one-time Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke, described Abam as a foremost personage who served his generation with diligence and admirable candor, just like Akin Rickets, former information commissioner in the state, described the late Otu Abam as a dedicated father, politician, civil servant and community leader whose indelible footprints on the sands of time.
In separate condolence messages, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution, Okoi Ofem Obono-Obla said Abam will be remembered for the reforms he instituted as a community leader, while the Ada BeKwara, Linus Okom, extolled the virtues of the deceased who he described as a courageous and bold community leader whose sincerity of purpose helped greatly in the rapid development of the Ugep Community.
International President and Spiritual Leader of Christian Central Chapel, Emmah Isong, prayed for the soul of Abam to rest in peace while urging his family to bear this loss with fortitude.
The late Otu Iwara Abam was a retired school administrator, politician, and traditional leader. He is the father of Kammonke Abam, CEO of Profiles & Biographies.
