Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State, led by State Party Chairman, Edim Inok, this afternoon held a protest march to the CRS Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, to register their displeasure at the percieved high handedness of the Police and teargasing of Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose and PDP supporters in the state yesterday.

The large gathering of party faithfuls delivered a petition to the Inspector General of Police, conveying in very strong terms their opposition to how the police has acted in the state and demanded that the Force must not take sides but protect all and sundry irrespective of political affiliation.

Egbung Odama, State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, told www.calitown.com when contacted that the CP warmly received them and promised to expressly relay their protest message to the IG. He was particular that what they have done was to maturely register their unhappiness at the conduct of the police in Ekiti State and pray that events there will not leave a sour political taste for tomorrow.

Reminded that what played out in Ekiti State yesterday was first deployed by Ayo Fayose and the PDP at the centre, in the last gubernatorial election, Odama insisted that, “we cannot dwell too much in yesterday when we should work at improving today”. He however prayed that the dust will settle soon and peace will be at the centre of the gubernatorial election to be conducted.
