Assemblyman Is CR APC Chairman

Posted on December 24, 2013 By Admin No Comments on Assemblyman Is CR APC Chairman

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Cross River State, has elected in interim capacity, Hon. Alex Irek, as chairman of the party.

Irek, reported to have defeated Elder David Okon in the election conducted in Calabar, will oversee an interim Executive Council charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the party until the state congress scheduled for March, 2014, is held.

Tom Ikimi, one time External Affairs minister, while inaugurating the Irek-led committee, informed the gathering that former CR governor, Clement Ebri, is waiting on the wings to join the APC. It was his believe that with the gains the party has made at the national level, it will not be long before it replicates same in at all levels in CR.

Irek, the only APC member in the CRS House of Assembly, promised in his acceptance speech to embark on a massive membership drive, to swell the ranks of the party and in doing so guarantee victory at the polls in 2015. He sued for the co-operation of members to push the party forward.
