“Attempts To Rubbish CR Comm. Of Police Will Fail” – Police

CP Mohammed Hafiz

Competent police sources in Calabar, Cross River State who have elected to remain anonymous, have informed www.calitown.com that attempts by certain unnamed persons in the state to drag and smear the name and reputation of the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz, as he works to address the many cult related cases in the state, will yield no fruitful results.

The sources insist that while the state government has jad been unable to stop the consistent cult related killings, several government functionaries are fingered to be in the habit of piling pressure on the CP to release suspects arrested in connection with the incessant cult related killings in the state.

Additionally, other police sources also maintain that many of the suspects released “secure their release through the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP. They go there, get themselves lawyers who push for their release and like a snap of the finger, they get that and are back on the streets to unleash more mayhem. We are helpless as security personnel, no matter the evidence at our disposal, if the law has set a man free, we cannot hold him back. This is what some government functionaries capitalise on in securing the release of their followers. Let them not turn around and want to tarnish the CP’s image, let them take responsibility for the cult related killings that have taken place in this state and leave the CP alone.”

When contacted, Irene Ugbo, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and Police Public Relations Officer, CRS, told www.calitown.com that, “the CP is more concerned with discharging his legitimate functions effectively and will not be drawn into trivial things like this, he is a busy man.”
