Ayade’s Former Commissioner Escapes Assassination Attempt

Posted on March 4, 2019 By Admin No Comments on Ayade’s Former Commissioner Escapes Assassination Attempt
Ekpungu

We have reliably gathered that over night, unidentified persons weilding offensive weapon, attacked George Abang Ekpungu, former New Cities Development Commissioner to CRS governor, Ben Ayade, in his country home in Kakwagom, Boki LGA, CR Central, destroying his house and car, in an attempt to assassinate him.

Journalist and News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, George Odok, who incidentally is from Boki, revealed on his Facebook wall this morning that Ekpungu, “… his wife and children escaped death in his country home in Kakwagom community in Boki LGA.

Ekpungu’s destroyed vehicle and window with bullet holes.

He went in to reveal that, “thugs invaded his house at night and shot sporadically in almost all the rooms in his house. His car and other valuables were equally destroyed. Dr Ekpungu, is a gentleman who doesn’t deserves this form of planned assassination. He is peaceful and friendly in all his conduct. He is always a peace mediator. The security agencies must step into this matter and apprehend the culprits.”

Ekpungu, broke ranks with the Ayade administration after he and several others were prevented from running for elective office. He equally has rejected political carrots thrown his way by the leadership of the PDP in the state, prefering instead to go back to his private legal practice in Abuja.

The condemnable attack on Ekpungu and his family has shaken Kakwagon this Monday morning with several indigenes of the area wondering what could be responsible for such a murderous attack. Sources in the village who spoke with www.calitown.com on telephone from Kakwagom, believe that politics cannot be ruled out of this attack. Police sources in Calabar informed at press time that they are yet to be informed about this unfortunate incident.
