Calabar Marina Resort Fire Burns Down Cinema House

Posted on February 18, 2024 By Admin No Comments on Calabar Marina Resort Fire Burns Down Cinema House

A fire, late Saturday evening, February 17, 2024, destroyed a considerable section of Kada Cinema located on the grounds of the Marina Resort, Calabar, Cross River State.

The VIP section before the fire.

The immediate cause of the fire remains unknown at press time, but we can confirm that the VIP section of the cinema is all but gone, sadly after the place was recently renovated and commissioned last year by CRS governor, Bassey Otu.

“I cannot say what happened, all of a sudden people started shouting and running away and I simply followed because I was scared and saw the viciousness of the fire. I didn’t want to know how it started, I just had to run to safety”, a witness who simply refers to herself as Grace told www.calitown.com.

This is the second time a fire incident is taking down the building housing Kada Cinema. On May 21, 2014, when Film House Cinema ran the cinema business in the Resort, a fire incident linked to a power surge, took down the place and led to the closure of the cinema.

Officials of Kada Cinema or the MD, CRS Tourism Bureau, Ekpenyong Ojoi, were unavailable for comments at press time.
