CR Assemblyman Makes Case For Missing Female NYSC Member

Dorcas Ojong

Okon Nyong Owuna, who represents Akamkpa I State Constituency in the Cross River State House.of Assembly, has informed the House that the continued disappearance of Dorcas Paul Ojong, a female National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member from his constituency, serving in Akwa, Anambra State, should be the reason the House mandates the Attorney General of the state to request the Director General, NYSC to produce Dorcas.

Dorcas Paul Ojong, has been missing since February 18, 2024, the last day she was reportedly seen by her landlady in Akwa, who said Dorcas left the house for her place of primary assignment at the Federal Ministry of Health, Awka office.

“Mr Speaker, Dorcas with NYSC NO. AN/2023/4309, a Batch A, Stream II 2023 corps member who was supposed to end her service in March 2024, was last seen on the 18th of February, 2024 by her landlady who said Dorcas told her that she was going to her place of primary assignment, Federal Ministry of Health, Akwa”, Owuna said, further lamenting that while all efforts to locate her have yielded nothing, her family remains traumatized as even the NYSC, Anambra State, has not made concerted efforts to help locate her.

After several contributions from members, the House adopted a resolution asking for an immediate investigation into the disappearance, mysteriously of the NYSC member, a graduate of the College of Health Technology, Calabar.
