Former CR Gov’ship Candidate Says El-Rufai Is Dethroned Sanusi’s ‘Best’ Friend

Ekpo and Sanusi after the latter arrived Abuja.

Former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Cross River State, in the last general elections, Eyo O. Ekpo has taken to his Facebook page with a post that clearly shows that Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, against all odds, has remained true to his friendship with dethroned Emir and Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi II.

Ekpo wrote: “The only public figure who stood firmly with Muhammad Sanusi II ended up bringing him back to Abuja. Like him or not, if you ever need a friend in need, pray you find one like Nasir Ahmad el-Rufa’i.”

The Kaduna State governor was a prominent figure who escorted the dethroned monarch into Abuja after the landmark judgement by Justice Anwuli Chikere ordered the immediate release of deposed Emir of Kano, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from house arrest. The interim order came on the heels of a ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by Sanusi through his lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and ordered that the fundamental rights of the deposed emir to freedom of movement and human dignity breached by the Kano State government through banishment and detention must be restored to him immediately.
