CR Gubernatorial Aspirant Targets Pensioners

Posted on September 3, 2018 By Admin No Comments on CR Gubernatorial Aspirant Targets Pensioners
Nyong

Cross River State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial aspirant, Eyo Etim Nyong, has thrown pensioners in the state a livewire, with the promise to look into the payment of pension and gratuity, promptly ensuring that senior citizens are paid their entitlements, if elected governor of the state.

Nyong who made this disclosure over the weekend, while formally declaring his intention to run for governor of the state, added that the APC-led Federal Government has been very compassionate, providing huge sum of money to the state for payment of pension and gratuity arrears, but unfortunately the state government has, like several other states, not been able to pay pension regularly, let alone gratuity.

He lamented the untold hardship and frustration this situation has caused this group of elderly citizens whose dignity and self esteem has been eroded by poverty, maintaining that no serious society treats her senior citizens this way.

Nyong therefore reiterated his desire to carry out pension and gratuity reforms in the state, if elected, to ensure that retirees are paid their retirement benefits promptly and no more have to suffer. The event, held at the Cultural Centre, Calabar, was well attended.
