CR PDP Exco Okays Egoro For Gov

Posted on June 11, 2014 By Admin 1 Comment on CR PDP Exco Okays Egoro For Gov

pdpInformed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, sources in Cross River state say the Executive of the party has thrown its weight behind former chairman of Yala Local Government Area and Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Fidel Egoro, in his quest to become governor of CRS in 2015. Egoro who had kept his ambition under wraps is thought to have consulted and secured the nod of the Exco, before making his ambition public.

Sources also say the Exco’s backing of Egoro could mean that it is insisting on putting one of their own in the Government House, against the wishes of a bitterly divided party, polarised along individual lines, in the run-in to next year’s polls. “Yes, we are throwing our weight behind Egoro. It is a family affair and since he is in the family and has sought our political support, we are throwing our weight behind Egoro for governor come 2015”, one source said.

Reacting to the position of the party’s Exco, one political commentator told www.calitown.com that, “it is becoming clear by the day that too many ideological distortions are driving politics in our state. So, the Exco now considers itself a governor making group, I believe that by the time delegates vote for the party’s flagbearer, most of those who are talking now will have no voice”, he concluded.
