Cross River’s ‘Theatre Of War’ Erupts Again

Posted on November 14, 2018November 14, 2018 By Admin No Comments on Cross River’s ‘Theatre Of War’ Erupts Again

That part of Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State, recently christened, “Cross River’s Theatre of War”, erupted this morning as the Usumutong and Ebom communities clashed in what has become an endless cycle of vicious attacks and killings.

The www.calitown.com reporter covering the conflict was unable to point to what triggered the latest round of fighting between the two communities. “In the first instance, we thought the Usumutong and Ediba crisis was what we should concern ourselves with, but I was shocked this morning when I got a call informing me that Usumutong and Ebom communities are currently at war. I quickly reached out to a few contacts in the area who confirmed that a full blown war was ongoing. I have just come back from visiting the Ediba community and there was palpable fear in the air. Armed young men are everywhere, women and children are within a distance of each other and it appears too that the elderly are guarded by local militia..”, our reporter wrote in his report.

This is what one source from Ebom, one of the warring communities told www.calitown.com, when we reached out to him: CLICK TO LISTEN
