DPO Killed By Students In CR Was Wary Of Cultists

Posted on March 11, 2020 By Admin No Comments on DPO Killed By Students In CR Was Wary Of Cultists

Slain divisional police officer, Gabriel Amawu, shot and killed on Tuesday night in the police station in Obudu, Cross River State, South-South Nigeria, is said to have told relatives at a burial in the area three weeks ago that he was trying to be careful in the area because several young persons suspected to be cultists, had links to top government officials from the area who always intervened whenever the police arrests them.

Amawu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, who headed the Nigeria Police, Obudu Division, further told his relatives that he was hoping to get posted out of the place and return to his family in Calabar. Inside police sources in Calabar, CRS, secretly confirmed to http://www.calitown.com that highly placed Obudu persons in government had specially requested that the now slain officer be posted to Obudu for “pure political reasons” and seem to blame his death on “this selfish reason”.

Sources in the area suspect that the slain cop may have been shot to death by a suspected group of rampaging students from the Federal College of Education, Obudu, who had stormed the police station seeking the release of some students arrested for cult related skirmishes in the school, shortly after they finished examinations for the semester.
