Our reporter this afternoon, lay siege on the Governor’s Office and reported that a Ford pick-up vehicle with registration number, CR 840 AO1, with the inscription GTFST (Government Task Force On Street Trading), was towed out of the Governor’s Office, at about 1:40pm today, not to the Ministry of Works, Calabar, but to a mechanic workshop on Esuk Utan road, behind the Zone Six Police Headquarters. At the workshop, our reporter also discovered that a truck, stealthily removed from the CRS Ministry of Finance, was parked at the workshop. While inscriptions on the body of the vehicle has been hurriedly wiped off, the keys of the vehicle are still in the ministry and security personnel on duty at the ministry are at a loss as to how the vehicle was removed without the knowledge of the Ministry of Finance.
A few other vehicles, believed to belong to the state government, were also sighted at the workshop. “Some Yoruba guys came to my office and told me that they have the express permission of certain people in government to take these vehicles out of the Governor’s Office. When l tried to asked them for documents to that effect, they asked me if l liked my job”, an anonymous senior government official told www.calitown.com.
It was not ascertained at press time if due process was followed in executing the process. But it does appear as www.calitown.com was informed that not many ministries and parastatals were plainly aware of this exercise.
