Fate Of Kidnapped Unical Don Remains Unknown

Egaga.

We have confirmed that Patrick Egaga, a Professor and Director of Servicom at the University of Calabar, abducted on Sunday night by gunmen at his residence in the university staff quarters, remains in the custody of his unknown captors, days after he was taken away. Sources also added that his fate remains unknown as his abductors are yet to establish contact with his family.

The Cross River State Police Command, which confirmed the abduction in an interview with newsmen in Calabar on Monday, however maintain that though the family didn’t report the incident, it was “…working to secure his release”, command’s spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident said. Effiong Eyo, the university’s spokesperson, also confirmed the abduction of Egaga.

The gunmen are believed to have entered the university campus through the river close to the staff quarters, now notorious for being a preferred gateway for kidnappers in Calabar. The river connects Calabar to nearby Akpabuyo LGA, through several creeks that also empty into the Atlantic Ocean.
