CEO of Blakkam & sponsor of the tournament Okoi Omini, flagging-off the tournament.

In what is an undeniable sports milestone, the First Ever Ugep Open Table Tennis Tournament, which has seen throngs of locals trooping to the Ijiman, Ugep, venue to watch an array of skills being displayed by indigenous players, has reached the quarter finals stage.

The tournament, sponsored by an indigenous large scale farm, Blakkam Urban Livestock & Farms Limited, with additional support from the non-governmental agency, NGO, Hands Around The Neighbourhood seeks to meaningfully engage young people in the area through table tennis.

“We conceptualised this competition as part of our community social responsibility, CSR, to our host community. So far, we have been impressed by the level of local participation and competitive spirit, it simply means that we have to go back, plan and expand the scope of this competition. Now that we have leveraged on the Leboku season and created this kind of buzz, we will through this engagement discover raw talents that will, with time, make our state proud, Okoi Omini, CEO of the host company exclusively told www.calitown.com.

According to Solomon Mathias Boniface, umpire and table tennis coach, quarterfinals matches will commence at 8 am tomorrow, August 15, 2025. Eight players, Ubi Oka Arikpo, Okoi Arikpo, Isaac Ettah, James Ofem, Iwara Iwara, Ubi Iwara Ebri, Isaiah Ettah and Arikpo Uket, made the quarter finals berth.
