Warning.

We can reliably confirm that Tuesday’s torrential rain in Calabar killed an elderly man, a father of four, around the MCC axis. Sources say after the heavy downpour, the deceased stepped out and attempted to cross the deep gutter but missed a step and fell into the gutter, resulting in his being swept away by the raging flood.

A search and rescue operation by his family and concerned people into the night yeilded nothing until early this morning when the corpse of the deceased was found at the Ikot Eyo ravine, Calabar Municipality. At press time, the family of the deceased deceased, believed to be a local chief, was in grieve while the corpse has been deposited at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, morgue.
