A family source in Calabar has disclosed to www.calitown.com that former Cross River State Agriculture Commissioner, James Aniyom, died this past Wednesday evening in his Calabar residence. Aniyom who served in the Imoke administration, also served in the Donald Duke administration as Duke’s Chief of Staff.

The disclosure adds that the Biase Local Government born Aniyom arrived Calabar from his Lagos base, earlier in the week, to see his 90-year old father, as has been his routine. In the evening of the fateful day, he is said to have gone to his bathroom for a shower before dinner, waiting downstairs. When he did not show up for dinner, family members went upstairs and discovered he may have slipped and fallen to death.

His Calabar residence has been besieged by a horde of sympathisers, still in shock and family members dumbstruck by this sad event.
