Francis Agantem Eworo, has told www.calitown.com that “if those who are interested in who becomes governor of CRS in 2015 can show me two million signatures urging me to run for governor, I will embrace the signatures and run for governor”.

The Catholic priest who hails from the North of Cross River State is believed to be under very serious pressure from a cross-section of youths in the North of the state to put his foot firmly in the race for governor. He also disclosed that “power comes from God, through the people and only the people can put pressure on you to run. You cannot sit back as an individual and believe you can lead the people when they do not endorse you”.

Eworo’s insistence on the signatures is believed to have been taken up by a group, Unifier Movement CRS, which has since gone ahead to mass produce forms for the collection of the signatures cross all the council wards in CRS. A sample of the form made available to www.calitown.com shows the form with the bold inscription, “Two Million Signatures For Eworo Francis Agantem For Governor 2015”. We gather that a vigorous exercise is ongoing by the Unifier Movement CRS, to have the signatures in place as the twist and turns leading up to the election continue.

Observers however say getting the signatures is a massive project and hope the authenticity of the exercise will not be faulted. One observer was particular that, “at the end of the day we hope the group will not come up with phony signatures and that the methodoly employed can stand objective scrutiny”. While we await the outcome of the exercise, it appears that the charismatic priest may be ruffling political feathers with his waiting in the wings approach to 2015.
