Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade’s Chief Of Staff, Martin Orim has confirmed lingering speculation that he will be seeking to run for an elective position as the build-up to next year’s general elections continue.

Orim took to his verified Facebook page to confirm this speculation, stating clearly; “It Is Settled. I’m Officially In The Race For The Senate Of CRN” . He also confirmed to www.calitown.com, when contacted, that he was running for Senate.

Should Orim win the senatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, he will face a herculean task in running against Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who currently occupies the position and has been cleared by the PDP, unopposed, to run for Senate.

Orim’s ambition is said to be blessed by his boss, Ayade, who has ensured that the likes of former University of Calabar Vice Chancellor, Zana Akpagu, who eyed the Senate and had even began consultations towards fulfilling his ambition, stepped aside for Orim.
