
One thousand undergraduates from Cross River North, are poised to benefit from the N100 million naira second tranche educational bursary award courtesy of the senator representing Cross River North in Nigeria’s senate, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe.
Jarigbe who made this disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen in Ogoja, Cross River State, further pointed out that the beneficiaries have already started receiving bank alerts as at yesterday, Monday, March 23, 2026.
He came clear that the award is being disbursed in two tranches of N50 million each, adding that the first tranche was disbursed in December 2025.
54 wards that make up the senatorial district had no fewer than 20 students selected for the bursary award and affirmed his commitment to support educational development in his constituency.
Jarigbe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, noted that the gesture was meant “to ease the financial burden from the parents and guardians of these students.”
The statement added that in August 2025, the lawmaker launched a portal for undergraduates in selected tertiary institutions to apply. No fewer than 100 students from each of the five local government areas that make up the district, studying in 11 tertiary institutions in the state, were to benefit from the award.
The University of Calabar, University of Cross River State, Degree Programme Unit of the Federal College of Education,, Obudu, and the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa, the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep, College of Health Technology, Calabar, and the Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery, Calabar, Itigidi, Ogoja and Obudu, were the benefiting institutions.
