“Legor Idagbo Has The Capacity To Deliver”

In what appears to be a direct response to an earlier story carried by www.calitown.com, sources within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and inside the campaign organization of governorship hopeful, Legor Idagbo, have insisted that those who doubt the ability of Idagbo to deliver as governor of Cross River State, “can even deny that the moon shines at night”. Specifically, one source maintains that, “the bulk of what you hear as reasons why Legor should not be governor are reasons that are not plausible but borne out of fear for this mercurial aspirant. I mean, how do you begin to submit that the man is too young to be governor of CRS when we know that the world over, people are embracing youths and encouraging them to take up leadership positions because of the vigourous contributions they can make in governance”.

The source went on to say that, “even when Achebe wrote his novel ‘Things Fall Apart’ at the age of 25, not many people gave him a chance, but isn’t that novel the best material out of Africa? Youth is power, vision, ability and in the case of Legor, add purpose. CRS needs him and he definitely has the capacity to deliver”.

Confronted with the argument as contained in the earlier www.calitown.com news item that Idagbo lacks requisite experience which CR’s next governor needs, another source responds that this assertion is “laughable, ill-timed and very far from the truth. Until Bekwarra became the first LGA in Nigeria to record the zero infant maternal mortality rate and earn Cross River State recognition for meeting MDG goals 4 & 5, under Legor’s time as Chairman of the LGA, did all these cynics think this feat was achievable?. This is just one feat. The man provided responsive leadership and achieved that unrivalled feat. We must collectively create the opportunity for Legor to bring critical development to our state”.

Again, the source continues, “governance is a team effort and non of the great leaders we look up to operates or operated alone; Legor will drive an all-inclusive approach to governance which will make extensive use of indigenous expertise in diverse areas, guide appropriately the respective paths to be taken and lead this state to new height where we can all look back and thank God for the wonderful son he has given this state”.

www.calitown.com was quickly pointed to the level of support Idagbo is garnering as he criss crosses the state, in the ongoing political process that has seen most of the gubernatorial aspirants appear before different caucuses in CRS. “We saw the www.calitown.com crew in Ogoja, Ugep and several other places where respective caucuses sat, didn’t you people record the high turnout of his supporters? Do you people think that those crowds were rented? The people identify with him because he is the hope of their tomorrow and has the modest disposition all great leaders have. Go and look at his document, ‘My Vision For Cross River State’ and you will understand that something great is coming the way of CR, if we get behind Legor Idagbo, the very Man Cross River needs”, another source concludes.

In tune with the earnings and privations of all, particularly the youths. Not from Cross rivers state, but had the opportunity of interacting with him sometime last year when he hosted a football match with the State House of. Assembly @ the UJ Esuene stadium. Cross riverbanks don’t miss this opportunity. Legor can do it.
