Eke (R), after receiving the cash gift from the council boss.

Moved by the public outcry that has so far trailed a video which trended yesterday (Wednesday), showing supposed revenue agents of Calabar Municipality, assaulting a commercial cab driver in Calabar; stripping him naked and ripping of parts of his taxi in the process, mayor of Calabar Municipality, Effefiong Eke, today made a cash donation of N550,000 to Chuks Solomon, the cab man.

The donation we hear is to assist Eke get himself a new taxi and continue to legitimately pursue his commercial taxi business in the face of an incident which happened in front of the council and appears to have embarrassed the council after several well meaning individuals called out the council boss, demanding that he acts decisively and apprehends the culprits.

While the mayor assured Eke that the culprits will be arrested and prosecuted, he urged him to judiciously use the funds. A visibly elated Eke, thanked God and the council boss for the gift, promising to judiciously use the money.
