In what appears to be a direct fallout from the just concluded internal political selection processes of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, several party men and women in Ediba, Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in a move that is currently giving the PDP food for thought.

The mass defection to the APC which also coincided with the party’s rally in Ediba this past Saturday, October 27, 2018, saw the defectors unanimously pledge loyalty to the party and promised to work hard towards the success of the APC at the 2019 polls.

Sunny Okpa, one of the APC leaders in the area, expressed optimism, at the occasion that beginning from the wards in Abi LGA, the party will record success at the general elections. He also commend the defectors for taking a step in the right direction assuring them that the decision to defect was a wise one.

Victor Arigoh, a PDP councillorship aspirant who at the occasion defected to the APC, complained that there is an extensive outcry in the area for change of political leadership in the Council ward. This outcry, he maintained, stems from multiple factors traceable to failure in the leadership to empower the youths and develop the community.

While www.calitiwn.com can report that there was excitement in the air when groups and individuals came forth to defect, we also noticed that a large crowd of people appear to be backing the decampees. Notable traditional chiefs like Chief Imong from Anong as well as Chief Uno Riman from Ediba were in attendance with several other chiefs.
