Posted on December 4, 2013 By Admin No Comments on More Than 40 Fire Incidents Recorded In CR, This Year

Vincent Aquah, Director-General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, CR-SEMA, has disclosed in Calabar, that the careless use of fires in offices and homes, arsons and electrical faults, accounted for more than 40 fire incidents in the state, this year.

Additionally, Aquah intimated that property worth millions of naira were lost noting that more fire outbreaks in urban centres were responsible for the figures released.

Unfortunately, the SEMA D-G regretted that more than 300 persons displaced by fire disasters were still awaiting rehabilitation. As the hamattan season approaches, Aquah appealed to the public to take positive steps against fire outbreaks occasioned by bush burning, the storing of highly inflammable liquids at home like fuel and combustible materials that can ignite fires.
