The parish priest of the St. Theresa The Little Flower Catholic Church, Ipong-Obudu, Rev. Fr. Peter Obele Abue, has exclusively informed www.calitown.com of the solemn dedication of the new N160 million church building and official opening of the parish by His Lordship, Most Rèv. John Ayah, Catholic Bishop of Ogoja diocese, in a ceremony scheduled to hold on April 26, 2014 at 10 am.

The clergyman further revealed that, the church which seats more than a thousand faithfuls, “has put smiles on the faces of the local people, a sense of pride and belonging when you consider that their former place of worship was as good as a hut”. He commended the support of Thomas Rutkoski and John Steele, two men who the parish will forever remain grateful to as well as the local people who bent backwards to ensure that the church project is completed.

For the church project, Fr. Abue said he midwifed it as a way of trying to make a difference in a local community lacking most modern day infrastructure and is happy that the project is positively affecting the faith of the people. “This place is like most other places in Africa, there is the prevalence of witchcraft, divisions among families, sickness and death, but in the building of the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, most of them now have the opportunity of praying with the Blessesd sacrament”, he added.

I must commend the likes of Rev Peter Obele Abue, who tend to make changes in the rural areas where the lack amenities. This should be an example to us christians to focus our time and resources on those who need it more, the poor in rural communities.I pray that this house of God may give joy and hope to the people of Ipong.May God bless you Fr Peter.
